The 3-D model hotspot allows 3-D models to be displayed within a scene.
The FBX format is used for this purpose. The FBX version should be higher than 7.2 (FBX 2012) and in binary format. Otherwise, our system cannot read the file and the model will not be displayed.
An example 3-D model in the required format can be downloaded here.

ATTENTION: There is no light source inside the VR scene. It follows that the 3D models use flat-shading and cannot cast or receive shadows.
Therefore, the objects should be textured to make the transitions and edges more visible.

Rotation speed

Rotates the 3D object on the y-axis.
Rotation Speed describes the duration of the rotation animation.
This animation can be switched off by setting the speed to 0.

Scale

Allows to adjust the scaling of the object again.
Values greater than “1” increase the object while values less than “1” decrease the object.

Each 3D model has different size. Therefore, when exporting, the scaling should be adjusted so that it can be scaled up using the VR Studio editor.
This way, the object can be adjusted optimally, and the close button can be placed better.

Export FBX using Blender

First, the object to be exported should be selected. To do this, click on the object under the “Scene Collection” tab. Alternatively, the “CTRL” key can be held down to export multiple objects.
The camera or the light should never be exported. The selected object is marked by a blue background. All children of the object are automatically selected.

After the object is selected, navigate to the “export” item under the “file” tab. There you can select different formats. We select “(FBX) .fbx” here.

Clicking on this export type opens a new window (“Blender File View”). Two settings must now be adjusted.

- Under “Limit to”, “Selected Objects” must be selected.
- Under “Object Types” only “Mesh” may be selected (again, the selected object is marked with a blue background).

In addition, the scaling can be adjusted under “Scale”.
We recommend the smallest possible scale (0.001) so that the object can be scaled up better using the VR Studio editor. However, the scaling can vary from model to model.
